In [1], a few new insns are proposed to expand BPF ISA to . fixing the limitation of existing insn (e.g., 16bit jmp offset) . adding new insns which may improve code quality (sign_ext_ld, sign_ext_mov, st) . feature complete (sdiv, smod) . better user experience (bswap)
This patch implemented insn encoding for . sign-extended load . sign-extended mov . sdiv/smod . bswap insns . unconditional jump with 32bit offset
The new bswap insns are generated under cpu=v4 for __builtin_bswap. For cpu=v3 or earlier, for __builtin_bswap, be or le insns are generated which is not intuitive for the user.
To support 32-bit branch offset, a 32-bit ja (JMPL) insn is implemented. For conditional branch which is beyond 16-bit offset, llvm will do some transformation 'cond_jmp' -> 'cond_jmp + jmpl' to simulate 32bit conditional jmp. See BPFMIPeephole.cpp for details. The algorithm is hueristic based. I have tested bpf selftest pyperf600 with unroll account 600 which can indeed generate 32-bit jump insn, e.g., 13: 06 00 00 00 9b cd 00 00 gotol +0xcd9b <LBB0_6619>
Eduard is working on to add 'st' insn to cpu=v4.
A list of llc flags: disable-ldsx, disable-movsx, disable-bswap, disable-sdiv-smod, disable-gotol can be used to disable a particular insn for cpu v4. For example, user can do: llc -march=bpf -mcpu=v4 -disable-movsx t.ll to enable cpu v4 without movsx insns.

SubtargetFeature.h is currently part of MC while it doesn't depend on anything in MC. Since some LLVM components might have the need to work with target features without necessarily needing MC, it might be worthwhile to move SubtargetFeature.h to a different location. This will reduce the dependencies of said components.
Note that I choose TargetParser as the destination because that's where Triple lives and SubtargetFeatures feels related to that.
This issues came up during a JITLink review (D149522). JITLink would like to avoid a dependency on MC while still needing to store target features.

Implement fetch_<op>/fetch_and_<op>/exchange/compare-and-exchange instructions for BPF. Specially, the following gcc intrinsics are implemented. __sync_fetch_and_add (32, 64) __sync_fetch_and_sub (32, 64) __sync_fetch_and_and (32, 64) __sync_fetch_and_or (32, 64) __sync_fetch_and_xor (32, 64) __sync_lock_test_and_set (32, 64) __sync_val_compare_and_swap (32, 64)
For __sync_fetch_and_sub, internally, it is implemented as a negation followed by __sync_fetch_and_add. For __sync_lock_test_and_set, despite its name, it actually does an atomic exchange and return the old content. https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.1.1/gcc/Atomic-Builtins.html
For intrinsics like __sync_{add,sub}_and_fetch and __sync_bool_compare_and_swap, the compiler is able to generate codes using __sync_fetch_and_{add,sub} and __sync_val_compare_and_swap.
Similar to xadd, atomic xadd, xor and xxor (atomic_<op>) instructions are added for atomic operations which do not have return values. LLVM will check the return value for __sync_fetch_and_{add,and,or,xor}. If the return value is used, instructions atomic_fetch_<op> will be used. Otherwise, atomic_<op> instructions will be used.
All new instructions only support 64bit and 32bit with alu32 mode. old xadd instruction still supports 32bit without alu32 mode.
For encoding, please take a look at test atomics_2.ll.

Commit 8e8f1bd75a9a ("[BPF] Return fail if disassembled insn registers out of range") tried to fix a segfault when an illegal instruction is decoded. A test case is added to emulate such an illegal instruction.
The llvm buildbot reported an asan issue with this test case. ERROR: AddressSanitizer: global-buffer-overflow on address ... decodeMemoryOpValue(llvm::MCInst&, unsigned int, ...) llvm::MCDisassembler::DecodeStatus llvm::decodeToMCInst<unsigned long>(...) llvm::MCDisassembler::DecodeStatus llvm::decodeInstruction<unsigned long>(...) in (anonymous namespace)::BPFDisassembler::getInstruction(...) ...
Basically, the fix in Commit 8e8f1bd75a9a is too later to prevent the asan. The fix in this patch moved the register number check earlier during decodeInstruction(). It will return fail for decodeInstruction() if the register number is out of range.
Note that DecodeGPRRegisterClass() and DecodeGPR32RegisterClass() already have register number checking, so here we only check decodeMemoryOpValue().

Basically, since -D enables disassembly for all sections, .strtab is also disassembled, but some strings are decoded as legal instructions but with illegal register numbers. When llvm-objdump tries to print register name for these illegal register numbers, assertion and segfault happens.
The patch fixed the issue by returning fail for a disassembled insn if that insn contains a reg operand with illegal reg number. The insn will be printed as "<unknown>" instead of causing an assertion.

A new macro called LLVM_EXTERNAL_VISIBILITY has been added to mark symbols in these libraries public, which is mainly needed for the definitions of the LLVMInitialize* functions.
This patch reduces the number of public symbols in libLLVM.so by about 25%. This should improve load times for the dynamic library and also make abi checker tools, like abidiff require less memory when analyzing libLLVM.so
One side-effect of this change is that for builds with LLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON and LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB=ON some unittests that access symbols that are no longer public will need to be statically linked.

If we ever have the needs to add verbose log to disassemblers, we can record log with a member function, instead of passing it around as an argument.

ld: warning: direct access in function 'llvm::initializeEvexToVexInstPassPass(llvm::PassRegistry&)' from file '../../lib/libLLVMX86CodeGen.a(X86EvexToVex.cpp.o)' to global weak symbol 'void std::__1::__call_once_proxy<std::__1::tuple<void* (&)(llvm::PassRegistry&), std::__1::reference_wrapper<llvm::PassRegistry>&&> >(void*)' from file '../../lib/libLLVMCore.a(Verifier.cpp.o)' means the weak symbol cannot be overridden at runtime. This was likely caused by different translation units being compiled with different visibility settings.

JMP32 instructions has been added to eBPF ISA. They are 32-bit variants of existing BPF conditional jump instructions, but the comparison happens on low 32-bit sub-register only, therefore some unnecessary extensions could be saved.
JMP32 instructions will only be available for -mcpu=v3. Host probe hook has been updated accordingly.
JMP32 instructions will only be enabled in code-gen when -mattr=+alu32 enabled, meaning compiling the program using sub-register mode.
For JMP32 encoding, it is a new instruction class, and is using the reserved eBPF class number 0x6.
This patch has been tested by compiling and running kernel bpf selftests with JMP32 enabled.

Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepo to reflect the new license.
We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.
Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository.

This is to disassemble load and store instructions in preferred B format as described in previous commit:

This patch adds instruction patterns for operations in BPF_ALU. After this, assembler could recognize some 32-bit ALU statement. For example, those listed int the unit test file.
Separate MOV patterns are unnecessary as MOV is ALU operation that could reuse ALU encoding infrastructure, this patch removed those redundant patterns.

Sort the remaining #include lines in include/... and lib/....
I did this a long time ago with a janky python script, but now clang-format has built-in support for this. I fed clang-format every line with a #include and let it re-sort things according to the precise LLVM rules for include ordering baked into clang-format these days.
I've reverted a number of files where the results of sorting includes isn't healthy. Either places where we have legacy code relying on particular include ordering (where possible, I'll fix these separately) or where we have particular formatting around #include lines that I didn't want to disturb in this patch.
This patch is *entirely* mechanical. If you get merge conflicts or anything, just ignore the changes in this patch and run clang-format over your #include lines in the files.
Sorry for any noise here, but it is important to keep these things stable. I was seeing an increasing number of patches with irrelevant re-ordering of #include lines because clang-format was used. This patch at least isolates that churn, makes it easy to skip when resolving conflicts, and gets us to a clean baseline (again).
