Functions controlled by the PMU 44include the real time clock, ADB, power, batteries, on some laptops like the 45PowerBook 3400c and similar machines it also controls hotkeys and display brightness, on others it provides an 46.Xr iic 4 bus and on some it controls CPU speed. On many older machines it also provides access to some non-volatile memory and thermal sensors. Not all those 47features are present on all machines, for instance Power Macintosh G4 and later 48machines don't have ADB, many more recent laptops have display brightness and 49backlight control built into the graphics controller instead of the PMU, only a 50few older PowerBooks use the PMU for CPU speed control and newer machines use a 51different way to access non-volatile memory. However, all known PMUs so far 52provide a real time clock and power control. 53.Sh Notes by model 54Real time clock and power control are present and supported on all machines 55that can run NetBSD/macppc, ADB is supported when present. 56.Bl -tag 57.It Dv PowerBook 2400, 3400c and 3500 58Battery status and thermal sensors found on the mainboard and in the battery 59pack are supported by the 60.Xr battery 4 61driver, values can be read via 62.Xr envsys 4 . Hotkeys for brightness control are supported, CPU speed control and parameter RAM are present but unsupported. 63.It Dv Power Macintosh G4 64ADB is not present, 65.Xr iic 4 66is present but unsupported. 67.El 68.Sh BUGS 69Some features are currently unsupported, like the 70.Xr iic 4 71bus, access to parameter RAM and CPU speed control. 72.Sh SEE ALSO 73.Xr battery 4 , 74.Xr cuda 4 , 75.Xr iic 4 , 76.Xr nadb 4 , 77.Xr nvram 4 , 78.Xr obio 4 , 79.Xr pmu 4 , 80.Xr smartbat 4 81
