1NetBSD/sparc 1.0 runs on Sun4c class machines only, which includes 2the SS1, SS1+, SS2, IPC, ELC, IPX, and the SLC. It does not run 3on Sun4, Sun4m, or Sun4d machines. 4 5The minimal configuration requires 4M of RAM and ~60M of disk space. 6To install the entire system requires much more disk space, and to run 7X or compile the system, more RAM is recommended. (NetBSD with 4M of 8RAM feels like Solaris with 4M of RAM.) Note that until you have 9around 16M of RAM, getting more RAM is more important than getting a 10faster CPU.) 11 12Supported devices include: 13 Video: cgthree, cgsix, and bwtwo frame buffers 14 Serial ports: ttya and ttyb 15 On-board AMD Lance ethernet 16 Some SCSI CD-ROM drives 17 Sun keyboard and mouse 18 19Hardware the we do NOT currently support, but get many questions 20about: 21 The floppy drive. 22 23The next release will likely run on many more machines. In 24particular, some Sun4 support will be there, and perhaps even 25Sun4m. 26
