Address Wizard

Use the Address Wizard to add a block of addresses to the server's DHCP network. To start the Address Wizard, select Addresses from the View menu, and then select Address Wizard from the Edit menu.

Proceed through the steps by clicking the arrow key at the bottom of the screen.

To enter information, double-click in the field, enter the desired value, and then press Enter.

If you choose the Address Wizard, you will be asked to supply the following information.

Number of Addresses Enter the total number of addresses to add to the DHCP server's network.
Managed by Server Enter the IP address of the DHCP server that manages these IP addresses. This server is responsible for initially responding to the DHCP client's request for an IP address.
Starting IP Address Enter the first IP address in the series.

Generate Names Enter a root name for generated client names.

You can generate a list of client names for each allocated address. The names will be entered in the server's hosts table. Each new client name will use the root name and add an incremental number.

Confirm Address List You can view the information that you have entered.

If you want to add or modify addresses, use the Create Address or Modify Address options in the Edit menu.

Client Configuration Macro Enter the name of a client configuration macro. You can scroll for existing macros. Select a macro from the list and click View to display the contents of the macro.

If you want to name a macro that does not exist, you can create it with the Create Macro dialog box.

Unusable You can choose to mark these addresses as Unusable.

Lease Type Select Dynamic or Permanent.

Dynamic: The DHCP server is responsible for the allocation and re-allocation of this range of IP addresses. Choose Dynamic if you want to make IP addresses available when they are not being used.

Enter the expiration time of the lease. You can specify an expiration date in mm/dd/yyyy format.

Permanent: The address is permanently assigned to the client.
